Gatefold
Pre-orders and back in stock
How Gatefold decides a pre-order, the acknowledgement switch and Notify me.
Pre-orders
A product is a pre-order when its release date is in the future. Without a date, the badge metafield and the Pre-order tags are used instead. Settings live in Theme settings > Pre-orders.
- Require pre-order acknowledgement: shoppers turn on a switch with your Acknowledgement text before the buy button and express checkout buttons become active. Quick add on cards, editions and offers never skips this: gated pre-orders link to their product page instead.
- Show ship-complete notice in cart: the cart shows the latest release date in the cart as the ship date for the whole order, because pre-orders ship complete.
Back in stock
With Show Notify me on sold-out products on, a sold-out product shows a Notify me button that opens an email field. Cards link to it with #notify-me. Choose where sign-ups go with Send sign-ups to:
- Shopify: the shopper is saved as a customer with tags such as
back-in-stock,back-in-stock:product-handleandback-in-stock-variant:12345. Filter customers by tag to see who is waiting, or use Shopify Flow to email them when stock returns. Change the prefix with Customer tag. - Klaviyo: the shopper joins Klaviyo's back in stock list and Klaviyo sends the email on restock. Enter your six-character Klaviyo public API key.
